Nomad PDX One-Year Anniversary
What: For its anniversary month, Nomad PDX (Portland’s hyper-local modernist pop-up) is offering a special 12-15 course tasting menu for $85 a person. Expect architectural plates of asparagus in roasted sunchoke cream, pickled mustard, and green strawberries, and wildly composed desserts like sorrel sherbert with sorrel ice, sorrel snow, and oxalis flower. As an added bonus, Portland Monthly readers get an extra $15 discount by mentioning the magazine in the reservation notes on their website.

6th Annual Restaurants for Raphael House
What: Dine out for a good cause. On May 20, over 30 different restaurants across Portland will donate 10-25% of their proceeds to Raphael House, an emergency domestic violence shelter. Last year, the event raised over $8,000, enough to fund 36 people in the shelter for three days. Participating restaurants include Cheryl’s on 12th, Por Que No, and Dove Vivi, just to name a few.

Sapori Regionali at Elder Hall
What: Take your taste buds to Tuscany with a five-course menu curated by Chef Jason French of Ned Ludd. That means bites like Etruscan rabbit with tarragon, and Tuscan pecorino with black pepper and young fava beans. This is the first of three regional Italian dinners coming this summer (next up: Veneto and Sicily).

Escargot Day at Cocotte
What: National Escargot Day? Who knew? Cocotte is celebrating the slow-moving delicacy with a three-course “escargot flight” that includes escargot pâté with mustard, escargot in hazelnut tomato romesco on grilled bread, and a Cocotte classic: escargot in herb pistou cream sauce.
When: Saturday and Sunday, May 23–24

Yogurt Class at Cyril’s
What: James Beard award-winning journalist Janet Fletcher is travelling to Portland to debut her new cookbook, Yogurt: Sweet and Savory Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. The dairy experts at Cyril’s in Southeast Industrial are hosting Fletcher for a yogurt discussion and demonstration, including a taste of five recipes from the book.
