Narcissus ‘Jetfire’

Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day was founded several years ago by Carol, an Indiana garden blogger who created the blog May Dreams Garden. On the 15th of each month, she celebrates what’s in bloom in her own garden and invites, well, the whole world to join up to share what’s in bloom in their gardens. It’s a great way to play "I’ll show you mine if you show me yours" without getting yourself into any trouble.

So here’s what I’ve got goin’ on right now in the garden… be sure to click on the "slideshow" button below the image to see everything! Of course, there’s plenty more that I couldn’t capture properly with my camera, including two young, spindly trees in flower: the glorious Prunus mume ‘Rose Glow’ (Japanese ume) and Cornus mas ‘Variegata,’ plus several Arctostaphylos (manzanitas), Jasminum nudiflorum (winter jasmine), lots of crocus species and colors, the last dribs and drabs of the Galanthus (snowdrops), other early Narcissus (like February Gold and good ol’ King Alfred that came with the house), lots more hellebores (I only included those that didn’t look like they’d been trampled by an enraged mastodon, thanks to the late freeze), and things that are merely budded and which would make me feel like a horrible cheater if I so much as mentioned, such as white flowering currant Ribes sanguineum ‘White Icicle’ and Camellia transnokoensis. I also refrained from mentioning plants in pots, since I have a few hundred o’ those. Now that would really be cheating, if I photographed what I have flowering in pots! (And embarrassing, since it all should have been planted about four years ago.)
