Nestled on 59 wooded acres in southwest Portland, Oregon Episcopal School is a pre-kindergarten–12 independent school that offers a unique educational experience for its 870 students.

At OES, our motto is “Always Open”—to new questions, ideas, and ways of thinking. Our curriculum is based on an inquiry approach, where students are at the center of their learning. At OES, children learn how to be learners, are encouraged to be curious about how the world works, and supported as they find answers to problems.

Through hands-on projects and research, children study topics that apply to their lives and connect their ideas to larger issues. Ultimately, OES’s mission is for students to translate what they know so they may “realize their power for good as citizens of local and world communities.” Recent grad Vineet Edupuganti ’17 did just that when he invented a high-performance, low-cost biodegradable battery during his senior year. As the national winner of the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology, Vineet won $100,000. He now attends Stanford University, where he studies electrical engineering and computer science.

Grounded in a strong community with caring faculty, our students feel safe, known, and valued. With an average class size of 16, and a student-to-faculty ratio of 7:1, students receive the attention they need to thrive. Learning opportunities abound in academics, music, art, and athletics. Students can explore their curiosity and passions, all within a college preparatory curriculum.

Attend one of the Open Houses to experience first-hand what makes OES such an exceptional school.
