Presented by Rogue Distillery November 7, 2021

Friendsgiving potlucks, Thanksgiving family reunions, Christmas cocktail hours, Hanukkah feasts – the parties are in full swing this time of year and hosts are busy preparing for the festivities. From table décor to menu planning and guest lists to grocery lists - are you overwhelmed by the thought of hosting your loved ones?

We’re here to help with some tips to create an at-home bar experience that’s sure to impress all your guests.

  1. Keep It Simple – With so many different types of spirits, seltzers and beers available, it can be overwhelming and tempting to do too much. Don’t overcomplicate the bar experience and instead stay focused on a theme and seasonal offerings - whiskey is a great choice for winter holiday parties. Create an atmosphere where guests can serve themselves to take some of the work off your plate. Serve canned cocktails, like Rogue’s Ginger Lemon Whiskey Mule and Apple Pie Whiskey Fizz, in a fancy glass over ice. These canned cocktails are made with real Rogue Spirits that have already been mixed for you. A hassle-free way to serve quality cocktails.
  1. Be Prepared – Set aside a bar area and make sure it is fully stocked with plenty of ice, mixers and liquor well before the event begins. Do as much prep work as possible before the guests arrive such as cutting lemon and lime wheels and pulling out proper glassware. Another fun idea, make a batch cocktail ahead of time that’s ready to serve. This will allow you time to socialize with your guests once the party is in full swing.

Here’s a recipe for a simple and delicious batch cocktail:

Fashionably Dead Cocktail

Serving size: 8 cocktails

3½ cups Dead Guy Whiskey

½ cup water

1½ ounces simple syrup

½ ounce bitters

Optional Garnishes:

Lemon Twist

Orange Twist

Dark Cherries

Fresh Cranberries

Star Anise

Cinnamon Sticks

Mix all ingredients together in a punch bowl. Ladle into punch cups filled with fresh ice. Let guests choose their garnish of choice.

  1. Serve Local – Support local businesses by serving beverages that are made close to home. Dead Guy Whiskey from Rogue Ales & Spirits is an award-winning whiskey that’s distilled, aged and hand bottled right on the Oregon Coast. As a bonus, it comes in a unique bottle with an awesome topper that can be used for decorations or party favors.
