Enjoy Estacada: Rafting, Brews, Art & More

Presented by Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory March 6, 2024

Nestled 30 miles southeast of Portland, Estacada is the gateway to the thrilling Clackamas River. Spring beckons adventure seekers to Blue Sky Rafting for guided trips through class III and IV rapids. The Upper Clackamas Whitewater Festival in late May celebrates this rush. For a calmer paddle, Clackamas River Outfitters offers rentals on Estacada Lake.

Refuel at a Mt. Hood Territory Tap Trail stop. Bent Shovel Brewing’s forested beer garden is down the road from Milo McIver State Park, and Stone Circle Cider’s on-farm cidery is five minutes off Highway 224 on your way back from rafting. In downtown, Time Traveler Brewing uses grains from small family-owned farms for sustainable beers.

As you stroll downtown, watch for the over 25 larger-than-life murals. The Artback Artist Cooperative tells Estacada’s community history by painting or restoring one every summer. Peruse smaller-scale local artists at The Spiral Gallery and neighboring locally-owned, handcrafted jewelry store at Julie Cooper Designs.

The Estacada Farmers Market — running every Saturday from May through October — and unique farms around the Estacada area offer memorable experiences and shopping. Wade Creek Vintage Marketplace boasts over 25 vendors in a converted farmhouse and outbuildings. Hillockburn Farm’s seasonal shop provides farm-fresh condiments and handmade body care. Book a guided tour at Hidden Oaks Llama Ranch, take a llama on a hike and even find keepsakes at their quaint gift shop. Plus, don’t miss Laurel Hedge’s first Saturday home goods shop and secret garden oasis from March to September.
