Saturday’s Alley 33 fashion show, produced by Mag-Big’s Cassie Ridgeway and Siren Nation’s December Carson, was a smooth, fun ride. The sun was out, the people were happy and 33rd Avenue off Hawthorne had been transformed into an impressive staged runway.

Overall, the vibe and event was not only fun, but welcoming as well. The designer line up included some veteran favorites (Ms. Wood, Clair Vintage, etc.) and some brand spankin’ newbies, as did the model roster. As with anything that includes the first timers there were some tell tale tale signs (collections that didn’t quite gel as a unit, models that sprinted down the runway like they were qualifying for the Olympics), but that’s sort of the point with a show like Alley 33. It’s about introducing the talent in our city and giving it a support network, helping the potential grow.

And that is one of the things we love about Portland.

Check out some of our favorites in the slide show.
