Brad Pitt for Chanel No. 5
Chanel No. 5 is arguably the most well known perfume in the world. A trademark of the fashion world with Marilyn Monroe once famously answering the question, “What do you wear to bed?” with “Why, Chanel No. 5, of course.” That’s why the internet world appeared particularly confused last week when Chanel released their new commercial with Brad Pitt, dressed down from his usual stunning handsomeness to "Casual Friday" attire, babbling incoherently with this script:
“It’s not a journey. Every journey ends but we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear. Dreams take over. But wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. Chanel No. 5. Inevitable”
Huh? If that’s not enough to baffle you, rumor is Pitt was paid somewhere between 5 and 7 million dollars to say that fluff. Saturday Night Live took notice of the hubbub and lampooned said commercial in a hilarious parody this weekend with comedian Taran Killam doing a spot on impression (but probably minus the mega millions pay check).
