Content Returns to the Ace Hotel
Back for its third installation, the Ace Hotel brings us Content.
In an industry where we mainly see designers' goods hanging from boutique racks or on the runway for approximately 45 seconds, the idea behind Content is one of simple genius – let the people see the garments in the environment the designer intended. For one night only each room of the second floor of the hotel is assigned to a different local designer and they transform the room in any way they want to showcase their company.
That’s meant everything from the Duchess gals trashing theirs like a bachelor party gone wrong to show off their wedding day suits, Adam Arnold famously having models play dead lying in pools of fake blood in his clothing or Rad Summer creating an ambient Zen room of tranquil keyboard sounds.
Basically, it’s amazing.
In addition to the room installation, the Cleaners at the Ace transforms into a pop up shop curated by Pam Baker-Miller of Frances May where enthralled viewers of the fest can buy the goods they covet from the displays. And the people watching is some of the best all year.
