In our October issue, we took inspiration from Twin Peaks for a fall fashion feature filled with with sexy mohair sweaters, slick trench coats, and plaids—a mix of Lynchian ’90s style and timeless cool.
Now, for the Hollywood Theatre's fall Fashion in Film series, the cinema will screen one of the only films to ever be called both a prequel and a sequel.
Lynch's 1992 film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me chronicles the seven days leading up to the notorious death of Laura Palmer. It begins in our own backyard, with Lynch (returning as FBI bigwig Gordon Cole) sending agents Chester Desmond (Chris Isaak) and Sam Stanley (Kiefer Sutherland) to investigate a suspicious murder in the town of Deer Meadow, Oregon. That event triggers a landslide of classic Lynch characters and weirdo shenanigans, including many of our beloved Peaks series characters: Kyle MacLachlan as Agent Dale Cooper, the one-armed shoe salesman, the creepy Ray Wise as Leland Palmer, and the even creepier Bob. Oh, and FBI Agent Phillip Jeffries, played by a fella named DAVID FREAKING BOWIE. It all comes together in a brilliant, confusing, eye-catching two hours.
