Five-year-old bald eagle "Justice"—who has spent the last three years in captivity, recovering from an injured wing—made his return to the wild skies Friday from Skamania Lodge's front lawn. His caregivers for those three years, Marsha and Shannon Dalan of Yakima's Raptor House, carried Justice through a crowd of about 100, serenaded by a moving rendition of "America the Beautiful." Moments after the final bars bounced off the Gorge's sun-kissed stone cliffs, the bird tumbled out of his cage, took two tentative steps, and then took flight, white head winking against the setting sun. Tripster takes you inside the evening and Justice's inaugural flight.
