There's a housing revolution afoot—and it's shrinking. Maybe you’ve caught wind of the Tiny House movement on HGTV—with shows like Tiny House Hunters, Tiny House, Big Living, and Tiny House Builders (yes, all on the same network)—or maybe you follow popular blogs like The Tiny Life or Tiny House, Giant Journey. Whether the appeal lies in creating a niche community of like-minded people, or the freedom to pick up and go at a moment’s notice, the tiny home movement is hot.

Portlanders are especially enthralled with the idea of nesting in spaces smaller than 300 square feet. Need more evidence? "The Northwest's premier RV park"—Mt Hood Village in Welches, Oregon—is jumping on the bandwagon with a Tiny House Village opening this Memorial Day weekend. Located at the base of Mt Hood, all vacationers here have access to the clubhouse, a whirlpool spa, pools and various sports courts. The tiny homes will be arranged in a horseshoe within the regular campground, but enjoy their own communal fire pit and separate parking lot.

To celebrate the addition of the five new rental units, designed by Sonoma-based Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, the Tiny House Village is hosting a May 20th open house for the public to come check out the tiny homes, with light snacks and live music. The bloggers of Tiny House Giant Journey will be in attendance to vouch for their experiences traveling the country with their home attached by trailer hitch.

Mt Hood Village Resort will host an open house on Friday, May 20, from 5–8 p.m. The Mt Hood Tiny House Village is available for booking starting Memorial Day Weekend.
