Nearly two years ago, we reported that McMenamins—the Pacific Northwest's beloved chain of slightly addled adult amusement parks—was building a brand-new, Hawaii-themed hotel in the tiny rail town of Kalama, Washington, less than an hour northwest of Portland on the banks of the Columbia River.

You can finally book that stay. As of January 9, the Kalama Harbor Lodge is taking reservations for as early as April 20.

The pet-friendly hotel will house a seven-barrel brewery, a wraparound outdoor patio with four fire pits, and a onsite restaurant and lounge, and river views from the rooftop bar. (Most of the 40 guest rooms’ outdoor lanais also include a river view.) In true McMenamins form, an ancillary log "shack," built by local Mountain Log Homes, will serve as a cozy, booze-augmented warming hut a short distance from the main lodge. 

McMenamins’ 55th property is modeled after Maui’s Pioneer Inn, and also draws on local history—both Kalama's connection with the early Hawaiian traders drawn here for work with the Hudson Bay Company, and Native American history. The property is situated next to Kalama’s landmark totem poles, and adjacent the working Port of Kalama.
