Dozens of Oregon Hotels Offer One-Day-Only Deals to Book Yourself a 2019 Vacation

On January 29—National Plan a Vacation Day—some spots are shaving 20 percent off nights booked later in year.

It's true: a main goal of tourism agency Travel Oregon is to fill the state's hotels, motels, and vacation rentals. (That sweet 1.8 percent State Lodging Tax flows right back into the organization's kitty, funding everything from international trade shows to its 2018 "Only Slightly Exaggerated," anime-inspired marketing video.)

But sometimes, Travel Oregon focuses its efforts more locally. Take a campaign, launched last week, that aims to get people—Oregonians included—booking their in-state 2019 vacays on Tuesday, January 29. (Dubbed National Plan for Vacation Day by the U.S. Travel Association.)

The sweetener here is the 20 percent discount negotiated with more than 50 hotels and vacation rentals across the state, from Bend's roomy Wall Street Suites (in our 2018 Insider's Weekend Guide to the city) to Port Orford's WildSpring Guest Habitat (part of our 2017 Ultimate Oregon Coast Road Trip). Some of the deals specify vacations within a limited date range; others are good for dates throughout 2019. For Portlanders looking to book a night literally close to home, the Travel Oregon list includes a number of city hotels, from the Dossier to the Hotel Deluxe to the brand-new Woodlark.
