British Airways announced new flights from PDX to Heathrow starting June 3, 2022.

The year is not even over, and 2022 is already taking up prime real estate in our minds. Is 2022 the year we finally travel again? The Atlantic Joint Business hopes so. A joint venture between American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Level, and Finnair, the AJB announced new routes between Europe and North America for summer 2022, including direct flights from PDX to London's Heathrow airport beginning June 3.

The new British Airways flights start at $650 (about £499), and will operate five times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The airline is also offering services from Pittsburg to Heathrow four times a week.

“British Airways has always had a fond connection with the USA,” said Neil Chernoff, British Airways director of networks and alliances, in a news release. “So, it’s an honor to offer our customers yet more direct connections to new cities. Today’s announcement to Pittsburgh and Portland is an exciting moment for customers wanting to plan ahead next year—to take a much-needed holiday or visit family and friends.”

Need a few things to do on your trip across the pond? See a show or take a tour of the legendary Royal Albert Hall, which just celebrated its 150th year. Buckingham Palace and Big Ben are must-sees, and a walk along the River Thames in Central London will take you past several attractions including the 443-foot-tall London Eye.
