Willamette Valley Among Best Wine Destinations of 2013

Wine Enthusiast Magazine points its fingers at our local wine country, spotlighting stand-by restaurants and classic wineries.

By Allison Jones January 15, 2013

Surprising absolutely nobody who loves Oregon wine, the editors of Wine Enthusiast Magazine have selected the Willamette Valley as one of the 10 Best Wine Travel Destinations of 2013.

Wedged in between international locales like Rioja, Spain, Austria's Danube River, and Brazil's Vale dos Vinhedos, our own neighboring wine country is touted for its "friendly wineries, gorgeous scenery, toy towns and a dazzling array of outdoor activities."

Save for a dubious when-to-travel tip (really? May and June?), the article hits on all the right points: Restaurants like Jory, Recipe, Panadería y Taquería González, Nick's Italian Cafe, Thistle, Red Hill's Market, and Tina's are tried and true, bed & breakfasts offer a sweet place to hang your hat between tastings, and the highlighted wineries—like Beaux Frères, Scott Paul Patricia Green Cellars, Adelsheim and Trisaetum—are pretty much sure bets and a great introduction to the region for folks from out of state (or those of us who don't get out of the metro area enough).
