This week is all about fabulous drag, whether it's men in tutus or lounge singers in nun drag (nag?).

Anyone born before 1985 knows the Whoopi Goldberg vehicle that was Sister Act, about a foul-mouthed Reno lounge singer who’s forced to go into hiding at a nunnery when a mob boss puts a hit on her head. She's a shockingly profane anathema to the sisters at first, but she quickly infuses them with some doo-wop soul, lifting the choir to such fame that Pope John Paul II comes to listen.

One of the funniest comedies of the 90’s, it’s no surprise that the story is reprising as a Broadway musical. The adaptation was nominated for a number of TonyAwards on Broadway and Oliviers in London (where Whoopi herself stepped in as Mother Superior for a short run). Lovers of the original movie must know, though, that there’s all new music by the tunesmith behind Little Shop of Horrors and The Little Mermaid (which, undoubtedly, will be sacrilege to some). There are also sequins. So many sequins!

Across town at the Schnitz, the globe-prancing men of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo will be donning their own drag as ballerinas. After all, it’s simply not fair that woman get all the plum ballet parts. Of course, the Trocks never forget they’re men in tutus, finding as much humor in the dances as grace and beauty. The evening's program includes: Raymonda's Wedding: A Traditionally Confusing Divertissement in Two Scenes, Act 2 Swan Lake, and a collection of solos and ensemble pieces. You don't have to like ballet to like this ballet.
