Random Order's Get Out The Vote SOUL-cial

What: Random Order Pie Bar is throwing a voter registration party, complete with Americana-inspired collaborations with some of Oregon’s most noted artisans and DJ-powered tunes. Olympic Provisions, Old World Apples, Ruby Jewel, New Deal Distillery and local beers like Fort George and 10 Barrel Brewing will join the fun. Nosh is set to include frankfurters, apple pie, root beer floats, and more.
When: Wednesday, October 10th from 6 pm to midnight. Registration available from 7 to 10. DJ starts at 8 pm.

House Spirits Krogstad Aquavit Dinner at Bent Brick

What: A modern four-course menu from chef William Preisch and bar manager Connor Mansager featuring House Spirits Krogstad Aquavit. Dishes are set to include aquavit-marinated anchovies, aquavit "rootbeer floats", roasted and braised lamb with fennel and caramelized yogurt sauce, and much more. 
When:

25th Annual Fall Apple Tasting at the Portland Nursery

What: Stop by the Portland Nursery two weekends in October to sample more than fifty varieties of local apples and pears, plus a one-of-a-kind hard cider-making workshop. This is the 25th year of Portland Nursery’s Apple Tasting—the official kick-off of fall in Portland—featuring local music, activities, and heirloom apple varieties you won't find anywhere else, many of them available to buy by the pound at exceptionally low prices.
When: Friday through Sunday, October 12th through 14th, and Friday through Sunday, October 19th through 21st; 10 am to 5 pm each day.

Red Ridge Farms Paella Class

What: Learn the traditional art of Spanish Paella from local paella master Scott Kettermen of Crown Paella. The demonstration will be followed by a full dinner, including wine pairings, tapas, salad, and paella with chicken, mussels, clams, prawns, and chorizo.
When: Sunday, October 14th from 4 to 7 pm
Where: Red Ridge Farms, 5510 NE Breyman Orchards Road in Dayton, Oregon.
How Much: $75 per person, including tapas, wine, dinner, and demo. Reservations required, call 503-864-8502. 

Zenger Farm's Fifth Annual Farm to Table Dinner

What: Break bread and raise a glass to help celebrate and raise funds for Zenger Farm’s affordable food and education efforts. Guests will enjoy a five-course meal, local wine and beer pairings, and Ruby Jewel sorbet made from Italian plums planted by the Zenger family, and will have the chance to bid on silent and live auction items ranging from Thanksgiving turkeys to a Hawaiian getaway.
When: Saturday, October 20th at 6 pm
Where: University of Portland’s Bauccio Commons
How Much: Single tickets are $100, and tables of eight are $800. For each ticket, $35 is tax-deductible. Tickets can be purchased online at Zenger Farm’s website.

Portland Lamb Jam

What: The American Lamb Board is bringing together top local chefs for the inaugural Portland American Lamb Jam, hosted by chef Adam Sappington of The Country Cat. Dozens of PDX culinary pros will showcase different cuts of lamb in a variety of dishes, competing to win the local title of Lamb Master and the chance to advance to the national Lamb Jam competition next fall. Attendees will be able to try all lamb dishes in addition to Oregon wine, spirits, and coffee.
When: Sunday, October 21st from 2 to 5 pm
Where: Pure Space 1315 Northwest Overton Street

MasterChef Auditions in Portland

What: FOX's MasterChef will be holding an open casting call in Portland in November! The high-pressure cooking show, judged by chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur Joe Bastianich, and chef Graham Elliot, features amateur cooks in a variety of challenges. 
When: Saturday, November 10th from 10 am to 6 pm
Where: Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts 600 Southwest 10th Avenue #500
