This just in: Slice slingers Sarah Curtis-Fawley and Chris Powell are expanding their popular Pacific Pie Co. empire to the west side, with a new location set to open on NW 23rd this summer.

Their current brick-and-mortar sweet-and-savory pie outpost on SE 7th and farmers market presence have garnered legions of fans of the husband-and-wife team's Aussie-inspired meat pies and seasonal dessert classics since the company launched in 2009.

Pacific Pie Co.'s second pie cafe location will pop up in the new Savier Street Flats at 1668 NW 23rd Ave—which will also house a new location of Twist frozen yogurt and the upcoming Lompoc Tavern. 

To celebrate the announcement of the expansion and the 2-year anniversary of the southeast Portland restaurant (which happens to fall on Mother's Day), Curtis-Fawley and Powell are throwing a crust-cradled party with some major perks:

• Each customer who stops by the current restaurant at 1520 SE 7th Ave on Friday, May 10 will receive an invitation to a VIP preview party of the new restaurant and a $5 coupon to be used at either Pacific Pie location.
• Portland Roasting Coffee, The Commons Brewery, and Eastside Distillery will be on hand to offer guests free tastings throughout the day on Friday.

As if that wasn't enough to keep the pie-slinging team busy all weekend, a special take-home Mother's Day meal for four (just $55) are available for pre-order, including family-sized savory pies, organic spinach salad with strawberries, walnuts, and poppy seed vinaigrette, green bean salad with sun-dried tomatoes, German potato salad, and a dozen bite size sweet pies. The meals are available May 10 through 12 and require 24-hour advance ordering (just call 503-381-6157).
