Besaw’s 110th Anniversary Bash

What:  Celebrate 110 years of Besaw’s history at the restaurant’s all day block party. This “Grand Outdoors Bizarre” will feature fire-eaters, kissing llamas, strength competitions, live music, and a Prohibition-era speakeasy.  
When: Saturday, August 24.
Where: Besaw’s, 2301 NW Savier St.
How Much: Free to attend. Food and drink available for purchase. No RSVP necessary, just show up with your kissing llama! 

Albacore Canning Workshop

What:  Learn the fine craft of fish filleting and canning at this Portland Culinary Workshop event. Attendees will learn every step of the fish canning process, from wielding knives to sourcing fish, and leave with over 6 pints of prime albacore tuna.   
When: Saturday, August 24 from 9 am to 12 pm.
Where: Portland Culinary Workshop, 807 N Russell St.

SE Wine Collective’s Eastside Fish Fry

What:  Dine on beer battered fried halibut and grilled salmon at this installment of SE Wine Collective’s monthly supper club. Chris Vandersloot of Sauvage will be preparing a three-course meal featuring wild Alaskan fish caught by SE Wine Collective’s own Tim Monroe. The event will also include a recap of the 2013 Guest Winemakers and cornhole and bubbles pong tournaments.
When: Sunday, August 25 from 3 to 7 pm.

Burgers & Barolo

What: Savor six exquisite wines made from Nebbiolo, the grape of Barolo, and retrieved from the depths of Genoa’s cellar. Featured wines will include 2009 Cantina del Pino, 2008 Cave Cooperatives de Donnas, 2006 Ar Pe Pe Sassella Stella Retica, 2008 Marcarini Brunate, 2006 Cappellano Pie Rupestris, and 2010 Massimo Clerico Spanna. Co-hosted by wine expert David Speer of Ambonnay and sommelier Michael Garofola of Genoa, this summer event will also feature an array of delicious burgers and sides. 
When: Sunday, August 25 from 3 to 6 pm.
Where: Atrium of the Olympic Mills Building, 107 SE Washington St.

Holdfast Vegetarian Dinner

What:  Make meatless history at Holdfast Dining’s first ever vegetarian dinner. Twenty lucky guests will enjoy a six-course meal paired with three wines. Gluten-free options are also available.
When: Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31 at 7 pm.
Where:  KitchenCru, 337 NW Broadway

Jacobsen Salt Co. dinner with Ava Gene’s, Bow & Arrow Wines, and Salt & Straw

What:  Tour the new Jacobsen Salt Company facility – a renovated oyster factory in Netarts Bay – before enjoying a four-course dinner prepared by Chef Joshua McFadden of Ava Gene’s. The meal will also include wine pairings by Scott and Dana Frank of Bow & Arrow and dessert by Tyler Malek of Salt & Straw Ice Cream. Tofurkyfest: New Facility Grand Opening

What:  Embrace your plant-based side at the grand opening celebration of Tofurky’s new LEED Platinum food processing facility. The three-day event offers an exciting array of activities including rafting and hiking excursions, vegetarian cooking classes, tours of the new facility, a disco and costume ball, and golf, bocce, and disc golf tournaments.
When: Friday, September 6 at 10 am to Sunday, September 8 at 1 pm.

Nicky USA’s Wild About Game

What:  Savor the flavors of regionally-sourced rabbit, quail, elk, water buffalo, emu and bison at this annual celebration of all things game. The meat-centric festival features cooking demonstrations, cookbooks signings, and an artisan marketplace, and culminates in a Seattle v. Portland celebrity chef cook-off.
When: Sunday, September 8 from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Where:  Timberline Lodge, Government Camp, Oregon

Harvest Market at Cristom Vineyards

What:  Enjoy a flight of Cristom wine and sample products from Northwest growers, bakers, culinary specialists, and artists at this first annual pop-up market. A portion of the day’s wine sales will benefit iSalud!, a non-profit that provides healthcare access for Oregon's seasonal vineyard worker
When: Saturday, September 28 from 11 am to 3 pm.
Where:  Cristom Vineyards, 6905 NW Spring Valley Road in Salem
