Inside Fifty Licks' SE Clinton Scoop Shop

The brick-and-mortar cone and cocktail joint from one of Portland's favorite food cart ice cream makers debuts with new flavors, toppings, and treats.

By Allison Jones August 29, 2013

A former SE Clinton soap shop has been transformed into food cart favorite Fifty Licks' brick-and-mortar ice cream scoop shop. The bright and airy 650-square-foot space from French custard-style ice cream guru Chad Draizin softly opened on Friday, August 23 with eight ice creams, four sorbets, two soft serve flavors, and creative toppings including sweet corn dust, candied rosemary, ghost pepper salt, and bee pollen.

Draizin debuted his retro-styled ice cream food truck in 2010, quickly garnering attention for flavors like Caramelized Apple ice cream and Passionfruit with Sichuan Peppercorn sorbet.

At his new scoop shop, designed by Portland-based Elk Collective, he's able to deliver customer favorites along with new innovations. From Cuban coffee and perfected house-made cones to four date night-ready creative sorbet cocktails and ice cream sandwiches, there's something for everyone. See our slide show above for more details!

The new shop is open Monday through Friday from 11 am to 10 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 11 pm.
