A Handful of NE Killingsworth Expansions

New eateries Nonna and Wilder join an expanding Cocotte, still-buzzy Expatriate, and empire building Oswaldo Bibiano on Concordia's hottest culinary corner.

On the heels of the celebrated launch of Naomi Pomeroy and Kyle Linden Webster's Expatriate (featured in recent list of Portland's 10 Best New Restaurants), eatery owners along NE Killingsworth Street and 30th Avenue's restaurant row are committing to the 'hood and investing in remodels, expansions, fresh menus, and new restaurants galore:

Cocotte Bar & Bistro's chef/owner Kat LeSueur has taken over a neighboring storefront, remodeling the former retail space as a second dining room and private dining space—and using the occasion to spruce up the main restaurant with a second bathroom and streamlined decor. That's good news for larger parties looking to pop and check out LeSueur's new seasonal small plates and dinner menu, boasting classic French flavors like escargot with leek fondue, crispy trout over bacon lentil ragout with crab veloute and roasted mushrooms, and duck breasts with roasted persimmons and cranberry beet coulis. The expansion and remodel are set to be completed within two weeks, in time for holiday dinners. 2930 NE Killingsworth St

Dayna McErlean (owner of NE Killingsworth's DOC and Yakuza and the Colony in St. Johns) is bringing a charming new concept to the neighborhood—Nonna wine bar and bistro. Stay tuned for photos and a full opening report from the cozy eat-and-drinkery next to DOC on Eat Beat! 5515 NE 30th Ave

• Raquel Bournhonesque's Wilder Bar Cafe, a new neighborhood hub offering "straight-forward, farm fresh food" and drink—think burgers, snow day-ready hot toddies, fresh veggie salads, and pies (a slice of maple buttermilk, anyone?)—has taken over the former Troolie stationary and craft store across the street from Cocotte. Opening hours: Monday through Sunday, 4 pm to midnight; Saturday and Sunday, brunch 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, 4 pm to midnight. 5501 NE 30th Ave

The benefits of the row's successes aren't constrained to the Concordia neighborhood: chef Oswaldo Bibiano is maintaining his commitment to Killingsworth with fresh Mexican standbys Autentica and Mextiza while branching out to the west side. Bibiano will bring a second, expanded (48-seat) outpost of his micro-taqueria Uno Mas to West Burnside, in the former Soi 9 space near Jeld-Wen Field. 1914 W Burnside St.
