On the heels of the celebrated launch of Naomi Pomeroy and Kyle Linden Webster's Expatriate (featured in recent list of Portland's 10 Best New Restaurants), eatery owners along NE Killingsworth Street and 30th Avenue's restaurant row are committing to the 'hood and investing in remodels, expansions, fresh menus, and new restaurants galore:

• Cocotte Bar & Bistro's chef/owner Kat LeSueur has taken over a neighboring storefront, remodeling the former retail space as a second dining room and private dining space—and using the occasion to spruce up the main restaurant with a second bathroom and streamlined decor. That's good news for larger parties looking to pop and check out LeSueur's new seasonal small plates and dinner menu, boasting classic French flavors like escargot with leek fondue, crispy trout over bacon lentil ragout with crab veloute and roasted mushrooms, and duck breasts with roasted persimmons and cranberry beet coulis. • Raquel Bournhonesque's Wilder Bar Cafe, a new neighborhood hub offering "straight-forward, farm fresh food" and drink—think burgers, snow day-ready hot toddies, fresh veggie salads, and pies (a slice of maple buttermilk, anyone?)—has taken over the former Troolie stationary and craft store across the street from Cocotte.
