Celebrate one of the Northwest's signature ingredients—known as “the diamonds of the kitchen”—at these intimate, multi-course events.

Oregon’s truffle season is in full swing, the sold-out Oregon Truffle Festival is just around the corner, and several local chefs are putting the earthy ingredient in the spotlight:

First up, The Farmer’s Feast invites you to celebrate the bounty with a grand truffle banquet. Join forager and farmer Roger Konka and chef Kathryn Yeomans on Saturday, January 25 as they shave, sliver, slice, stuff, and peel their way through a five-course, truffle-centric feast at Tabor Bread on SE Hawthorne. For just $65, truffle lovers will delight in a wide range of delectable dishes made with the exquisite ingredient—grown and foraged by Konka and his family at Springwater Farm and accompanied by local farm products obtained by Yeomans.

After dinner, Roger Konka will regale diners with stories from the farm about building living fences from trees injected with a truffle “slurry”. Diners will also get helpful hints on how to forage for their own truffles, plus tips on how to train your canine friend to assist you in your truffle hunt.

Haiku Bonus: For all the truffle-loving wordsmiths out there, Springwater Farm is hosting their 5th annual Truffle Haiku Contest. Hopeful haiku-ists are invited to enter their truffle-themed submissions at the Springwater Farm booth at the Portland Farmers Market winter market or Hillsdale Farmers’ Market, message them to the Farmer’s Feast's Facebook page before February 14, or bring poems to the dinner itself. Prizes include breakfast or lunch at Springwater Farm’s booth at the Portland Farmers’ Market and a bag of truffle salt.

If that isn’t enough truffle-y goodness for you, it’s all truffles, all the time at Imperial’s truffle weekend dinners. Imperial is celebrating the fast-approaching Oregon Truffle Festival with a special truffle menu in the last weekend of January. For $75, diners will get four courses highlighting Oregon truffles, an Imperial Hunting Season cocktail, and wine pairings. Truffle dishes will also be available a la carte—no truffle-sniffing dog required.
