Portland’s produce-loving community is tossing plant-based confetti in celebration of the upcoming return of Portland VegFest. Billed as Oregon’s premier plant-based food and lifestyle event, the two-day convention is crammed with activities and demos sure to delight vegans and omnivores alike:

Food: Come hungry. More than 100 plant-based businesses will be dispensing generous samples of everything from hummus to hot pockets, and local favorites Heidi Ho Veganics, Mariam Foods, Happy Campers, and Homegrown Smoker Vegan BBQ will be among the exhibitors. Cooking demonstrations will also take place throughout the weekend, with chefs whipping up dishes from chick’n salad to chocolate ganache.

Film: While you’re digesting hundreds of free samples, settle down in the screening room to take in a series of impactful films. The showcase will include hard-hitting documentaries (Cowspiracy, Fowl Play) as well as lighter fare—Free Willy, anyone?

Fashion: In addition to its fashion-focused exhibitors, VegFest has invited the founders of celebrated cruelty-free brands to share their styles and stories. The lineup features the minds behind Vaute Couture, V Apparel, Compassion Co, and Portland’s own Herbivore Clothing Company.

Fitness: Get your plant-based butt in shape with a series of fitness presenters, from personal trainers to yoga, meditation, and tai chi instructors. PlantBuilt’s Vegan Muscle Team will be on hand to show off their spectacular strength, dispelling the myth that vegans are weak and scrawny.

And more! Not sold on the sustainability of a plant-based diet? Several medical professionals will be answering questions and offering advice on living an optimally healthful diet. Topics include preventing disease, meeting nutrients of concern, addressing population health, and treating type-2 diabetes.

The details: VegFest takes place September 27–28 in the Oregon Convention Center. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased here. The event is open to attendees of all diets and lifestyles, so whether you’re a cruelty-free crusader, herbivorous foodie, or curious carnivore, check out the VegFest website for a full schedule!
