Lake Oswego’s GP Kitchen Lands in Portland

James Joyce and Vicky Davies were enjoying a cozy snack in Nuvrei when they spotted a “For Lease” sign in the mixed-use building across the street. What started as a quick glance across NW 10th Avenue quickly turned into the second location of GP Kitchen, Joyce and Davies’ Lake Oswego-based eatery.
The husband-and-wife team first founded Gourmet Productions as a catering company in 1992, and the pair's complementary skills—Joyce graduated from Portland’s Western Culinary Institute, while Davies worked in visual merchandising for Kitchen Kaboodle—led Gourmet Productions (later rebranded as GP Kitchen) to success, first in catering, and later as an upscale takeout deli and fine food market.

Now, after 22 years in business, GP Kitchen has expanded to Portland proper. The small deli space on NW 10th and Glisan provides grab-and-go sandwiches—think Tuna Tostis and Roast Beef Banh Mis—alongside an array of nourishing, homestyle salads, soups, and desserts. The colorful deli case offers plenty of options for any diet, from a gluten-free flank steak salad with sesame soy dressing to a vegan cauliflower panzanella and an addictive red rice salad with dried cherries and chard. Most dishes are sold by weight, allowing adventurous eaters to built plates piled with a dozen different dishes for a true taste-testing experience.
GP Kitchen’s Pearl location is open weekdays until 7 pm, giving busy office-workers time to grab to-go grub for dinner. Time-strapped shoppers will also appreciate the store’s tiny pantry stocked with wines, salts, chutneys, and other specialty goods (left). The company’s catering company also continues to thrive, crafting wholesome lunches for the likes of OHSU, Nike, and Puppet Labs—and is available to transform your next business meeting into a flavorful affair.
