Run Fast Eat Slow with Nike Run Club
What: Jog a few miles along the riverfront with Shalane Flanagan, who recently placed 6th in the marathon at the Rio Olympics, and nutrition coach Elyse Kopecky. After you work up an appetite, the dynamic duo will share snacks and recipes from their recent cookbook for athletes, Run Fast Eat Slow. (Fuel for the run with Flanagan's race day oatmeal recipe.)

2016 Volunteer Expo
What: Oregon’s largest and longest-running volunteer expo returns to Portland’s living room. The 2016 Volunteer Expo brings more then 125 nonprofits all to one place. Learn about how you can donate and volunteer for your community. Organizations represented include the arts, culture, environment, animal welfare, human services, and more.
Where: Pioneer Courthouse Square
When: Thursday, September 8, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
How Much: FREE 

AIDS Walk Portland 
What: Join more than 10,000 people in a fun 2.4-mile walk to raise awareness and money for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Hosted by the Cascade AIDS Project, AIDS Walk Portland opens with activities and entertainment, and ends with a fun bar crawl.
Where: The Fields Park, NW 11th and Overton St.
When: Saturday, September 10, 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Harvest Festival
What: People’s Co-op throws their biggest party of the year! Come hungry to the Harvest Festival, where you can expect live music, local craft vendors, hot food, cooking demos, a beer garden, and more. Bring a white shirt for the indigo dyeing station.

When: Wednesday, September 14, 2–9 p.m.

2nd Annual SeptemberFest at The Grinning Yogi
What: Participate in a weeklong event celebrating community and yoga. The Grinning Yogi’s SeptemberFest is the place to be, with all classes priced at only $10. Expect specials and surprises all week long, including a live acoustic flow with tunes by DJ Hyfi.
Where: The Grinning Yogi, 3110 SE Division St.
When: Monday, September 19–Sunday, September 25

Healthy Living and Gluten Free Expo
What: Travel down to Salem and learn about everything healthy at the Healthy Living and Gluten Free Expo. Expect six different speakers and more than 20 exhibitors, including local favorites like Honey Mama’s, Café Yumm, and Betsy’s Best Bar None.
Where: Salem Convention Center, 200 Commercial St.
When: Sunday, September 25, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
How Much: $7. Register here.

Yoga + Dogs = Doga
What: You can now downward dog with your dog while benefitting a great cause. “Doga” is a monthly class at POINT Gym where participants spend an hour doing hatha/vinyasa yoga while their pups enjoy a play date. Money raised will go to One Tail at a Time.
Where: POINT Gym and Kitchen, 115 SE Salmon St.
When: Last Saturday of every month; first class Saturday, September 24, 11:15 a.m.
How Much: Suggested donation $5-10.
