It’s out with tiny plates and white walls and in with brass bistro railings and vintage French posters. As Eat Beat first reported in November, James Beard winners and Ox owners Greg and Gabi Denton have remade SuperBite—their cheffy, tiny plates restaurant at 527 SW 12th Ave—into a classic Parisian bistro, named for Greg’s grandmother.

Not a ton has changed in the space. The Dentons cut down the leather banquettes to let in more light and removed the small “chef’s counter” in back for space. It's darker and sexier, with midnight blue walls, tons of mirrors, and the requisite French print. The real shift is in the kitchen, where the Dentons are putting contemporary twists on old classics, like black pepper gougères sided by chicken liver mousse and plum compote, and turning out comforting bistro fare: think cassoulet, steak frites, and glazed profiteroles. Get more menu details right here

Bistro Agnes officially opens for dinner on January 18, although lunch service won’t start until around Valentine’s Day. Click through the slideshow above while you wait for your first taste of “Le Cheeseburger,” with Wagyu beef, aged cheddar, and truffled bordelaise.
