Leather Art
The leather jacket may be the most iconic symbol of rebellion chic. From James Dean and Olivia Newton-John’s transformation at the end of Grease to the Fonz and Michael Jackson’s famous look— the leather jacket is an alert to the world that you are cool. So it’s no shocker that said jacket would become the canvas for a very fashionable endeavor. The Sisley Art Project consists of 18 customized motorcycle jackets by 17 pop artists of the contemporary art scene. The custom looks will be shown at a gala exhibition during Milan Fashion Week, before being auctioned off to benefit The Andy Warhol Museum. The jackets range from Marlon Brando cool to unwearable remnants of clothing, but it’s definitely a trip to see how one item can be recreated over and over.
