Mojave Warms Up Winter

The new West End shop goes double with its twin-inspired F/W lookbook.

When Chelsea Layton moved to Portland from Palm Springs last year, she instantly fell in love with her (much rainier) adopted city. Now, from a storefront in the ever-burgeoning West End, Layton curates a selection of clothing and accessories that split an aesthetic difference between California desert bohemia and Portland eclecticism.

“Mojave is driven by wanderlust,” Layton says. “We have a trend-driven mix of edgy products that are somewhere between modern and boho.”

As she created her a Fall/Winter lookbook showcasing the shop’s wares, Layton says she was inspired by twins, styling her models to match one another. “I wanted it to be super playful, with the two twin girls being mischievous and having fun getting into trouble together,” she says.

We asked Layton to share her inspiration behind her favorite looks.
