Knock Out: A Body Positive, Plus Size Fashion Show

On Sunday, Sept 25, head to Holocene for local and national plus size designers, body positive authors, pop-up shops, and boozy slushies.

Local designer Claire Doody, known for her sexy Copper Union clothing line of womenswear in sizes from 12­–30, has planned a hell of a fashion show for Sunday, September 25. Knock Out is a full plus size fashion experience with stylish collections from both local and out-of-state designers: Chubby Cartwheels, Allihalla, and Proud Mary, to name a few. Emceed by entertaining comedian Leigh Rich, the show goes beyond traditional runway, opening with a talk from mental health professional Jes Baker, author of Things No One Will Tell Fat GirlsThe manifesto uses Baker’s wit to encourage people of all sizes and ages to embrace a body-positive worldview, shake up preconceived notions or weight, and put mental health first.

Finally, Doody promises boozy slushy drinks, DJ Nathan Detroit spinning, and a 10-vendor pop-up shop featuring designers from the show and others like Chubstr blog for men, local boutique Fat Fancy, and Archive 6 zine press. Snag your $10 tickets here.
