It’s been a good summer for Portland jewelry designer Leslie Paige Smith. Photos of former New York gubernatorial candidate (and, yes, Miranda) Cynthia Nixon wearing her 14-karat, yellow gold-and-garnet earrings popped up in profiles for both New York magazine and Elle. Industry publication National Jeweler named her a brand to watch for the creative settings she employs, perching her gems as precarious cliffhangers atop rings instead of traditional embedding. Finally, industry showcase company Metal and Smith bestowed Smith with its first-ever Innovation Award for her unusual style.

From her colorful clustered bezel necklaces to her square solid gold interlocking puzzle rings, Smith manages to take the fussiness that often comes with high-end jewelry and make it fun. Ogle her pretty things in the current lookbook above, but the real eye candy comes on her active Instagram where virtual window shoppers can view stunning jewels up close.
