A look from Sock It to Me at last year's Unmentionable show

This is your annual reminder of buns on the runway. On Thursday, February 6, Unmentionable, Portland’s annual lingerie fashion show, returns for its eighth consecutive go around. The consistently packed show is known for its jolly, body-positive crowd that hoots and hollers for every look—a stark opposite of the quiet onlookers at many a show.

Several familiar local lines will grace the Jupiter Next catwalk, including lace magician Vava Lingerie, the no-wedgie wonders from Thunderpants, and crowd-pleasing plus-size pieces from Chubby Cartwheels.

“When you hear lingerie the first things that comes to mind is sexy bra and underwear. But this show has so many different designers that present how lingerie can be so much more than that,” says Shawna Farmer, the designer behind Chubby Cartwheels. “It’s for all bodies, all genders, and for every aesthetic. It makes everyone feel included and I love being one of the designers who shows that fat bodies are sexy no matter what they wear.”

In addition to the runway show, Unmentionable will also bring back its one-night-only pop-up shop, with opportunities to Valentine’s Day–shop from the designers and other brands.
