Watch Planes Land at PDX in Crazy Crosswinds!

With perpendicular gusts pummeling the runway at the Portland airport, it was a tin-can shimmy for some arriving passengers.

Thursday morning, as winds surpassed 19 miles per hour and flurries of snow began to fall, many working Portlanders decided to stay inside, just like those homebound schoolkids. (Those who didn't risked the usual slip-and-slide that—this side of the Cascades, at least—inevitably accompanies even the lightest dusting.) But inclement weather didn't stop flights from landing at PDX, even as major crosswinds forced some aircraft to crab-dance their way down to the tarmac. Just check out this video of some white-knuckled landings on the south runway this morning, shot by KATU News photojournalist Mike Warner:
