Eastmoreland Market will shutter permanently on Thursday, October 25th.

Southeast

SE Knapp: Patrick and Colleen Mendola's much-loved neighborhood cafe Eastmoreland Market & Kitchen will close on Thursday, October 25th after five years in business. The small cafe and mercantile tucked away in the Eastmoreland neighborhood charmed residents and visitors alike with made-to-order sandwiches, satisfying soups, perfect arancini, and well-stocked aisles of Italian and Spanish artisan foods. All remaining merchandise will be sold for 35% off from now until Thursday. 3616 SE Knapp

SE Division: Kate McMillen's second location of pie shop Lauretta Jean's is now open in the former Pix Patisserie space on Division and 34th, offering breakfast pastries, savory quiches, egg sandwiches on flaky house-made biscuits, espresso, and—naturally—plenty of sky-high pies by the slice. Stay tuned for photos of the sweet-as-pie interior, here on Eat Beat. 3402 SE Division Street

SE Division: Elizabeth Davis and Kelly Myers' Xico has launched a Taco Tuesdays special, offering three-taco plates (think sauteed greens and crema, chorizo with potatoes, steak tacos, and more) from $7 to $9 every Tuesday night. 3715 SE Division St

Southwest

SW 12th: A new European-style cafe/marketplace is opening in the West End. Ed and Cheryl Casey will debut Cheryl's on 12th on Thursday, October 25th, offering coffee, pastries from former Papa Haydn chef Kristina Montaine, to-go and dine-in dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, as well as local and imported gourmet cheeses, meats, oils, chocolates, beer, wine, and more. With floor-to-ceiling windows, Carrara tiled floors, whisk lights, and wood details reclaimed from a former speakeasy in the basement, the space mixes modern elements of the Downtown district with old school charm. Hours going forward: Mon-Thurs 7 am to 8 pm, Fri 7 am to 10 pm, Sat 8 am to 10 pm, Sun 8 am to 7 pm. 1135 SW Washington Street

SW Montgomery: Beau Breedlove's cafe Vie, is now open along the southwest waterfront. The 36-seat eatery offers French specials like onion soup, boeuf bourguignon, and Champagne cocktails. Opening hours: Wed-Mon, 4:30 pm to close. 0315 SW Montgomery St. Suite 150

Northwest

NW 14th: Eater PDX reports that market-driven Mexican eatery Verde Cocina will open a second location in the space recently home to Kin (which shuttered earlier this month). The team behind Verde Cocina has garnered a passionate following via farmers market booths and a popular restaurant in Hillsdale, and aim to open the Northwest location in November. 524 NW 14th Ave
