Sunshine Tavern Named Top Pizza Spot
In honor of National Pizza Month, Relish names Jenn Louis' Sunshine Tavern one of the top ten pizzerias in America.
Here are a few things that may or may not surprise you:
- October is National Pizza Month.
- Sunshine Tavern is one of the top 10 Pizza Restaurants in America.
That's according to Relish, a syndicated food magazine distributed in over 900 newspapers nationwide, who picked Jenn Louis' Southeast Division family-friendly tavern to share list space with New York City’s famed Lombardi’s, Philadelphia’s James Beard Award-winning Osteria, and real-deal apizza from New Haven's Frank Pepe Pizzeria.
The pie that clinched the "Portland-style" title for Sunshine? The Hen Egg Pizza. “The simplicity of the Hen Egg Pizza really lets all of the elements shine: Great dough, good quality eggs and a little Parmesan and wild oregano for seasoning,” says Louis in the article. “It is not heavy at any point, and you can really enjoy the eggs and pizza crust without any overwhelming other ingredients. It is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. My favorite add-ons: Arugula and tesa (house-cured pork belly that has been roasted until very tender.)”
