Over the past few years, local food fanatic Clark Haass has rallied a passionate community of devotees to a single dish: the humble hash.

With his hash-centric website and frequent gatherings at popular brunch spots around Portland--dubbed hashcapades--Haass has drawn attention to the concoction, once considered a graveyard of corned leftovers, that has been reborn in the hands of local chefs with fresh and internationall-inspired ingredients.

Haass chronicles this culinary revival, as well as his own path to hash love, in his new book Hashcapades: The Art of the Perfect Hash Adventure (self published; $23; 90 pages).
