With over three dozen farmers markets in the Portland metro area, our community has access to produce and artisan foods fresh from local farms, ranches, and commisary kitchens every day of the week throughout most of the growing season. Although a growing number of year-round markets have made the colder months a bit more bearable, enthusiasts celebrate the spring opening of local markets with all the pomp and revelry of a major national holiday.

To make sure you don’t miss opening day of your local market, we’ve compiled a list of regional markets and their launch dates. Get your baskets and reusable bags ready, because the season is about to begin.

◊ The big boy, the Portland Farmers Market PSU location, launched on Saturday, March 16 (and has already drawn record early season crowds).

◊ Washington's Vancouver Farmers Market (the second largest in the state) also debuted on March 16.

◊ Portland Farmers Market’s Downtown Portland Shemanski Park location opens Wednesday, May 1 at 10 am, Southeast’s Buckman opens Thursday, May 2 at 3 pm, Northeast’s King Market launches Sunday, May 5 at 10 am, and the Northwest, Kenton and Pioneer Courthouse Square markets are slated for June openings.

◊ The Hillsboro Farmers Market's Downtown Hillsboro location launches Saturday, May 4 at 9 am, the Orenco Station location opens Sunday, May 5 at 10 am, and the Tanasbourne and Tuality Hospital locations open in June.

◊ The Hollywood Farmers Market weekly season begins Saturday, May 4 at 8 am (bi-monthly winter hours can be found here).

◊ Northeast’s Parkrose Farmers Market opens Saturday May 4 at 9 am.

◊ The weekly season of the Hillsdale Farmers Market debuts Sunday, May 5 (bi-monthly winter dates can be found here).

◊ The Beaverton Farmers Market opens Mothers’ Day weekend, Saturday May 11 at 8 am (winter market hours can be found here). 

◊ The Gresham Farmers Market also opens Saturday, May 11 at 8:30 am.

◊ The Milwaukie Farmers Market launches Mothers’ Day, Sunday May 12 at 9:30 am.

◊ Moreland Farmers Market launches Wednesday, May 15 at 3:30 pm.

◊ The Lake Oswego Farmers Market debuts Saturday, May 18 at 8:30 am.

◊ The St. Johns Farmers Market will celebrate its fifth year in North Portland on Saturday, June 1 at 9 am.

◊ The Montavilla Farmers Market will open on Sunday, June 2 at 10 am.

◊ The OHSU Farmers Market opens Tuesday, June 4 at 11 am.

◊ Zenger Farm's Lents International Farmers Market will debut Sunday, June 16 at 11 am.

◊ Southeast’s People’s Farmers Market (Wednesdays from 2 to 7 pm) will continue its year-round dates.
