Southeast

Un-turning Japanese: Trent Pierce's SE Division ramen hotspot Wafu will soon become a "delicious and accessible" seafood restaurant inspired by LA's Son of a Gun and Seattle's Walrus and the Carpenter. According to the Oregonian, the new, simplified menu will focus on "fresh oysters, ceviche, steak tartare—alongside smoked and cured seafood charcuterie". Wafu will shutter after dinner service on June 2 and the as-yet unnamed restaurant will dock on June 12. 3113 SE Division

Summer cone kick-off: Portland ice cream wunderkind Chad Draizin will reopen his Fifty Licks scoop cart for the summer season on Saturday, June 1 at the Good Food Here pod, in preparation for the late summer opening of his SE Clinton brick-and-mortar scoop shop. New flavors debuting at the cart this year are set to include Grapefruit and Rosewater Sorbet, Jelly Doughnut, and Charred Oak. Summer hours: 11 am to 9 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. SE 43rd St and Belmont

Northeast

Old Salt Marketplace (the new multi-unit, food-focused complex from the owners of Grain & Gristle) is now open on NE 42nd. As previously reported, Alex Ganum, Ben Meyer, and Marcus Hoover have teamed up with former DOC chef Timothy Wastell to launch the ambitious supperclub/bar/deli/butcher's counter outpost, which shares building space with a rentable commissary kitchen, a cooking school, and a soon-to-debut patisserie. Southwest

Little Bird happy hour gets bigger: Downtown dining favorite Little Bird Bistro has extended its happy hour menu. Starting this week, the discount offerings will be available from 3 to 5 pm Monday through Friday anywhere within the restaurant—and until 6 pm at the bar. On the later side, the happiness continues from 10 pm to midnight every day of the week. The new menu includes Crispy Buttermilk Frog Legs and a $9 Le Pigeon burger (previously $12 on the late night menu). 219 SW 6th Ave

Northwest

Changing of the guardiaAfter eight years serving traditional tapas, paella, and Spanish fare in Northwest Portland, Ricardo Segura's Patanegra closed on May 11. In a statement on their website, the team stated, "Only after much consideration did we come to the bittersweet decision to sell our current lovely establishment of the last 8 years and shift our direction onto other adventures and journeys." Current Ciao Vito chef Jose Chesa (a recent transplant from Barcelona) has purchased the space. Stay tuned for updates on Eat Beat. 1818 NW 23rd Place

Tavern redux: Lompoc Brewing's Lompoc Tavern is now open in NW 23rd, boasting familiar menus, artwork, and tchotchkes from the pub's previous incarnations, and a few new outdoor tables along the street. The new 21+ gathering spot is open Monday through Thursday, 11 am to 1 am; Friday and Saturday, 11 am to 2 am; and Sunday, 11 am to midnight. 1620 NW 23rd Ave

Citywide

Feast 2.0: The whale of a lineup of official 2013 Feast Portland events landed today, and what a whale it is: a long weekend packed with more than 40 opportunities to eat, drink, and chef oggle—crashing into town September 19 through 22.

Outside the Bubble

Voodoo lines to stretch all the way to Colorado: Portland's iconic doughnut shop will open their fourth location in Denver, Colorado (joining the flagship SW 3rd location, NE Davis' Voodoo Doughnut Too, and a branch in Eugene). According to the Oregonian, Denver offered the company tax credits for bringing the business (and, presumably, the tourist dollars) to the Colorado town.
