A brief booze break: Southeast Portland's landmark bar Beaker & Flask is closed until July at the earliest, allowing owner Kevin Ludwig to bring changes to the kitchen, focus on the beverage program, and hopefully take a vacation or two. The Matchbox snuffs its flame: Southeast Division's Matchbox Lounge is closed after six years slinging burgers and beloved happy hour fare across the street from Pok Pok. Stay tuned for more information on what's slated to take over the space. 3203 SE Division
An update on Prasad's gluten-free sister restaurant Harlow: SE Hawthorne's upcoming full-scale vegan-, vegetarian-, and gluten-free-friendly restaurant is slated for an end-of-June opening. According to Eater PDX, the space will offer a full bar (with gluten-free beer) in addition to fresh juices, smoothies, and on-tap kombucha in the former BridgePort Ale House space. 3632 SE Hawthorne

Secret Society's not-so-secret 5th anniversary party: On Friday, June 14, Matt Johnson's speakeasy-themed venue and lounge the Secret Society will celebrate five years of business in a 1907 former Masonic lodge with $5 food and drink specials all night long, and four free shows in the ballroom (Pete Krebs and His Portland Playboys, The Resolectrics, Redray Frazier, and Dr. Theopolis's dance party funk). The Ocean's low tide: John and Caprial Pence's Korean fried chicken shack in Northeast Portland's food hub The Ocean has shuttered after six months. BBQ in the 'burbs: Lake Oswego's destination-worthy barbecue joint Pine Shed Ribs is now offering their finger-lickin-good sauce to-go, and—thanks to a new license—will be pairing beer and wine with their ribs, sausage, chicken, and brisket.
