• Kyra Bussanich—owner of Kyra's Bake Shop in Lake Oswego and author of Sweet Cravings: 50 Seductive Desserts for a Gluten-Free Lifestyle—won Food Network’s Cupcake Wars for the third time this past weekend. The winning recipe? The Caramallow Fluff cupcake—chocolate cake dipped in chocolate ganache, rolled in handmade caramel corn, topped with marshmallow fluff mascarpone whipped cream. The flavor will be available at the sweet shop all week. 460 5th St, Lake Oswego

• After 13 years of culinary education in the Portland area, Barbara Dawson's In Good Taste cooking school in Lake Oswego has closed. In an email announcement, Dawson noted "It is with a sad heart that I am writing to tell you that In Good Taste will cease operations effective immediately. It is time to close the kitchen but your friendship will remain with us." The cooking school's Pearl District location shuttered in early 2012.

Southeast

• Cannon Beach's lauded Waves of Grain Bakery is relocating to East Burnside, and is slated for a February 2014 opening. The Cannon Beach location shuttered in September after seven years of serving the North Coast community with breads, cupcakes, cakes, pastries, and good vibes. 2250 E Burnside

Northeast

• The minds behind downtown food cart Sonny Bowl have opened a second vegan eatery in Portland, taking over the former Basa Basa space in NE Glisan's micro-restaurant row The Ocean. The new venture, dubbed The Sudra, makes quite a departure from Sonny Bowl's limited menu of salads and smoothies; the menu offers an intriguing array of vegan Indian fusion fare—think chickpea cutlets, tandoori soy curls, cauliflower pakora, and housemade chutneys. The Sudra will be open daily from 11 am to 11 pm (midnight on Fridays and Saturdays), which leaves plenty of time to scope out the bar menu as well. 2333 NE Glisan St

Here's a Bakery Bar service update: the popular Northeast PDX breakfast and lunch spot has launched dinner hours, Monday through Saturdays from 5 to 9 pm. Diners can now feast on brick-oven pizza, salads, and more evening offerings2935 NE Glisan St

Yakuza has launched a weekly Service Industry Night. Every Sunday, the restaurant's happy hour menu will be available to anyone with an OLCC or food handlers card all night long (it's regularly available from 5-6 pm)—think $4 kale salads, $6 hand rolls, and $9 Yakuza burgers. 5411 NE 30th Ave

• Need to stock up on fresh pasta, spices, nuts, cheeses, or chocolates? Local specialty foods supplier Classic Foods will open their retail Outlet Store to the public every First Friday from 2 to 6 pm. 817 NE Madrona St

Southwest

• New food cart alert! Gluten free "Mexican fusion" kitchen Sabrosa Barbosa is now open on SW Alder and 9th, offering chicken molé, pork green chilé, Peruvian bean nachos, and gluten free carrot cake and nutella cupcakes from CarrieCakes.

Northwest

• After 15 years serving Northwest-inspired Italian food in the Pearl District, Paul Klitsie's Fratelli closed its doors for good on November 5 to allow the chef to focus on his new venture across the Columbia. “Closing Fratelli is truly an end of an era,” said Klitsie in an email blast.  “But, as one door closes, a new door has opened with Willem’s on Main and I’m honored to have the opportunity to launch a new restaurant in Vancouver as I did with Fratelli in Portland 15 years ago.”

Citywide

• BridgePort Brewing Company will be celebrating its 30 year in 2014 with a series of three special beers, dubbed The BridgePort Trilogy Series, that will release over the course of next year. According to a representative of the company—Oregon’s oldest craft brewery—"the first two beers will honor pivotal moments in BridgePort’s history by highlighting the adoption of aroma hops and the IPA movement. In contrast, the third and final beer in the series will explore what’s still to come for craft beer in Oregon." Stay tuned for more info about anniversary events and tastings.
