The Fun Bits Dinner at Smallwares

What: For adventurous eaters only: Chef Johanna Ware is throwing an all-offal (organ meat) dinner. Expect unusual pairings like sea urchin with cinnamon quinoa cereal and cashew milk and sweetbread tikka masala with naan.
When: Wednesday May 27, 5 - 10 pm

Third Annual Negroni Week

What: One part gin, one part vermouth rosso, and one part Campari. That’s the formula for the third annual world Negroni Week. Imperial, Nostrana, and Oven and Shaker are just a few of the 56 Portland restaurants participating with their own unique twist on the classic Italian cocktail. Proceeds will be donated to a charity of the restaurant’s choice.
When: June 1-June 7

Cuisines of China at the Lan Su Chinese Garden

What: Feed your inner Zen…literally. Join the Lan Su Chinese Gardens in celebrating China’s vast culinary delights for the entire month of June. On the roster: the history of dumplings, Lanzhou-style noodle pulling seminars, and an inside look at tea roasting. Also keep an eye out for cooking demonstrations and a dexterity-defying “Chopstick challenge.”

Beers Made By Walking

What: The fifth annual Beers Made By Walking returns to Oregon with a new batch of hikes (and beer). Accompany Ecliptic Brewing and Hopworks Urban Brewery for a sunny, four-mile stroll through Springville Hill for the first in the Portland-based summer series. Later in the season, purchase their hike-inspired beer with proceeds benefitting the Forest Park Conservancy.

25th Anniversary Farm Dinner Nicky USA

What: In celebration of a quarter century of specialty game and high quality meat in the Pacific Northwest, Nicky USA is holding a special anniversary dinner. Expect a carnivore’s paradise with a menu of rabbit, quail, goat, venison, and elk courtesy of Seattle chef Jonathan Sundstrom (Lark) and 23 Hoyt’s Chris Carriker. Proceeds from the dinner and a portion of the meat sales will go to nonprofit organization The Portland Kitchen.

Holdfast Vegan and Vegetarian Dinners

What: Portland Monthly’s recently reviewed, new-and-improved Holdfast is dipping a toe into the world of meatless fine dining. June 12 marks Holdfast’s first-ever all vegetarian dinner, with vegan juice pairings based around Portland’s farmers market haul. On Sunday, they are going strictly plant-based, with an all-vegan 9-course tasting menu.
