Southeast Wine Collective Thanksgiving Party 

After the Thanksgiving chaos, a stiff drink (or two) is in order. Southeast Wine Collective is hosting its fourth annual Thanksgiving party, sampling 20 fall releases from eight local wineries, all resident winemakers of the collective. Just in case you haven’t had enough turkey come the weekend, they’ll be serving turkey nachos as the wine pairing.

Lardo Tap Take-overs 

Holiday ales are here, complete with their own festival during the first week of December. Lardo is celebrating the advent of festive brews by featuring local breweries Block 15 and Barley Brown’s at their east and west locations. The tap take-overs will showcase some of the breweries’ specialty and rare brews. Really, what could go better with a side of dirty fries?

Feast of the Table Workshop

Local stylist Ashley Marti (see our Scandinavian holiday spread) is joining Ned Ludd’s Jason French at Elder Hall for a workshop on setting the ultimate holiday table. Together, they’ll share favorite recipes for the holidays and offer up essential styling tips on how to stage an envious dining room, compete with flowers, hand-lettering, and plating.

Beer Gets Graphic at Powell’s

Writer Jonathan Hennessey and illustrator Aaron McConnell present their comprehensive history of beer in a comic book format, chronicling 9,000 years of beer history in action-packed episodes, ending with the present day explosion of craft brewing.

Imperial’s Holiday Cookbook Social

Over 20 local chefs, bartenders, and writers will hole up at Vitaly Paley’s Imperial for a Portland cookbook extravaganza. Everyone from Mark Bitterman (Bitterman’s Field Guide to Bitters and Amari) to Jim Meehan (The PDT Cocktail Book) will be on hand to chat about their past tomes and offer a signature.

Beer Bites Tasting 

Portland beer expert Christian DeBenedetti and local food writer Andrea Slonecker are hosting a release party for their new cookbook, Beer Bites: Tasty Recipes and Perfect Pairings for Beer Lovers. The authors will be teaming up with The Commons Brewery to prepare the abovementioned beer bites alongside a special four-beer tasting flight.

Julbord Buffet at IKEA

If our holiday julbord is too much to tackle at home, you can always turn to furniture mainstay Ikea for an all-you-can-eat Christmas smorgasbord, which includes such classics as poached salmon, meatballs with lingonberries, jansson’s temptation, and glögg.
