It’s a trying time to be a Trail Blazers fan (pre-season starts this week!). Some still mourn the loss of Mike and Mike from the Trail Blazers broadcast team. Adding insult to injury, only 16 (down from 21 last year) of the 82 regular season games will be shown on local TV (KGW). Next year, it will stop airing locally entirely. 

Rather than kowtow to the Comcast dictatorship, we’ve decided to drink our grievances away at some of Portland’s finest, cable-subscribing establishments, old and new.

Century Bar (930 SE Sandy Blvd)
Brought to you by the folks from Lightning Bar Collective (Dig a Pony, Jackknife, Bye and Bye), Century Bar boasts five retractable projection screens and actual stadium seating. Think of a tiny high school gym, add a chic rustic sheen and mix in some designer cocktails, craft drafts, and a tallboy or three. Prom date optional.

The Goodfoot (2845 SE Stark) 
Surprisingly, this Jekyll and Hyde Southeast Portland dance club/pool hall also moonlights as a sports bar (at least for the Blazers). Order off their happy hour menu (lasts ‘til 9 p.m.) and watch the game upstairs on their HD projection screen; celebrate the Blazers win by starting a conga line and chugging downstairs for some live music.

The Station (2703 NE Alberta St.) 
Nestled amid the near-infinite constellation of bars on NE Alberta, you’ll find the Station, a classy sports bar housed in the former Northwestern Electric Company building. In addition to several TVs throughout the bar, they’ll show the Blazers (with sound) on their giant projector screen.

Beulahland (118 NE 28^th) 
One of Portland’s finest no-frills watering holes, Beuhlahland doesn’t feel much like a sports bar. Don’t be fooled; the bar is Blazer-crazy. Featuring two pull-down screens, good, cheap food and the city’s most adorable tiny patio, this is where you’ll find some of the most diehard denizens of Rip City.

Suki’s (2401 SW 4^th Ave)
Want to make sure everyone in your entourage gets a seat and a decent view of the TV? Suki’s will be happy to oblige. Located under the Travelodge in southwest, this spacious and meandering sports den will accommodate scores of Blazers fans and never feel crowded. 
If the bar were a Blazer... Mason Plumlee 

Maui’s (3508 N Williams)
Blessed with two patios, pool tables, and outdoor foosball, this Blazer bar will be packed for every regular season game. Though the seating setup isn’t perfect, the beer line is never unreasonable, and with a little bit of gumption you can post a chair just about anywhere.

Spirit of ’77 (500 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd)
Named for the World Champion Portland Trailblazers, Spirit of '77 has become the place to drink regularly priced beer before spending your entire paycheck at the Moda Center. A 10-minute walk from the arena, and host to several free Pop-A-Shot baskets, this bar is begging for your Easy Ed free-throw impersonation.

The Old Gold (2105 N Killingsworth)
This stellar tavern regularly runs beer specials replete with Blazer throwback 20-ounce glasses. Now you can finally say you’ve been out drinking with Terry Porter and Kevin Duckworth.

Spare Room (4830 NE 42^nd Ave) 
A former bowling alley and NE PDX nightlife staple, the Spare Room is a comforting trip back in time. Several screens will help you follow the game if you can resist some of the city’s best karaoke.

EastBurn (1800 E Burnside St.)
Home of one of the classier Blazer/beer promotions, the folks at the East End give away cheap beer (probably High Life) in the downstairs taproom bar if the Blazers score more than 100 points. Though it won’t be as rowdy, this year they’ll be showing the Blazers upstairs as well.
