Slide Show: Inside Planet Granite's Massive New Pearl District Rock Gym
The three-story building includes yoga and fitness studios (to the left) and the 55 foot walls (on the right).
The archways, cracks, and angles on these rope-climbing walls, despite being daunting, look like a blast!
The bouldering section has some great shapes and slants that can challenge even the most experienced climbers.
With 30,000 square feet of climbing, Planet Granite Portland is the largest of their 4 locations throughout the west coast.
Planet Granite is offering Belaying classes every day so everyone can enjoy climbing these rope routes. This class is mandatory for all who are new to rope climbing, and the class sizes are small so make sure to call ahead to make reservations.
All the routes are set with specific colors for every hold, which eliminates the need for taped route setting.
Planet Granite’s yoga studio offers large windows and up to 5 classes a day.
Remember to sign up for your Belay class on your first visit. If you are a member it is free, and if you are just there on a day pass it costs $28.
People waiting in line at the sneak peak event to sign up for a membership.
Between the warm atmosphere, the sweat you are sure to break while climbing, and the large garage door windows which allow for as much natural light as possible, it almost feels like you are climbing outside in summertime!
The routes at Planet Granite range from beginner to advanced so everyone has plenty to work with.
