Kure's New West End Juice, Macro Bowl, and Salad Restaurant Is Now Open

Healthy cafe Kure, the newest incarnation of Kure Juice Bar, is officially serving a full menu at SW 12th and Stark. We've got the first look inside.

Juice Here Now

The grab-and-go cooler offers juices, elixirs, coconut water, Stumptown cold brew, and light lunches like chickpea salad with green goddess dressing and Sriracha "toona" rolls bound in soft coconut wraps.

Yes is More

Two new menu items at the new location: the Zen Master Matcha Bowl (with avocado, matcha, vanilla protein, spinach, almond milk, coconut manna, dates, and coconut yogurt, topped with strawberries, granola, coconut manna, and shredded coconut) and the Kid Kyoto Matcha Shake smoothie (with avocado, matcha, vanilla protein, spinach, almond milk, coconut manna, dates, and coconut yogurt).

The new menu is organic, vegan, and designed to appeal to “both health food junkies and gluttonistas alike,” according to Kure owner Nate Higgins.

Kure, Just Kure

The West End restaurant is known as Kure, not Kure Juice Bar, and will develop its own identity independent of the three juice bars across the city. “This vision for Kure has been around from the inception of the business,” explains Higgins, “and the plan had always been to launch a separate concept entirely rather than adapt the existing Kure Juice Bar model. Since signing our lease at SW Stark a year and a half ago, and with the neighborhood growing so quickly around us, we realized this was the perfect time and place to deliver our fully realized concept to the city.”

Steamed quinoa and kale with roasted maple carrots and cauliflower, mesclun greens, chickpeas, grated beets, hemp seeds, crushed almonds, and garlic herb tahini sauce.

Just in time to balance the culinary debauchery of Feast Portland's epic four-day food festival, the health nuts at Kure's West End location have turned on the neon "Juice Here Now" lights and set out fresh-from-the-printer hot macro bowl and salad menus. After nine months of waiting, Kure's first full restaurant is here—complete with seating. We popped in for their opening hour to scope out the new space and join the army of living Socality Barbies itching to get the perfect Instagram shot of their morning smoothie bowl. (Full disclosure, I totally Instagrammed my smoothie bowl this morning. #liveauthentic).
