Grow Your Own Produce: Seed Saving
What: August means it’s time to start preparing your garden for winter, and People’s Food Co-op is here to help. This workshop will teach you how to save your seeds and preserve your harvest with hands-on opportunities.

Zenger Farm Hoedown
What: Support a local farm at the 2nd Annual Hoedown at the Urban Grange. This family friendly event features a picnic-style dinner followed by kids’ activities, farm tours, square dancing and more. Food and drinks sponsored by local businesses including Portland Nursery, Salt and Straw, Zoiglhaus Brewing Company, and Reverend Nat's Hard Cider.

Oregon Trail Game 5k

What: Based on the classic 1980s video game, the Oregon Trail Game 5k Run will have you making decisions whether to hunt or forge a river, all while trying not to die of dysentery. All ages are welcome to participate in this run through downtown Oregon City.

Get Your Rear in Gear
What: Connect with colon cancer survivors at Get Your Rear in Gear, a 5k run/walk in Portland. This event is to help raise funds for the nation’s number-two cancer killer. All of the money will stay in the community and help further educate people about this disease.
Where: Mt. Tabor, SE 60th Ave and Salmon St.

Providence Bridge Pedal
What: Strap on your helmet and pump up your tires for the 21st Annual Providence Bridge Pedal. Join more than 18,000 cyclists as you ride over up to 10 bridges, starting with the Fremont and ending on the Steel.

Find Your Park: Crater Lake National Park

Organic Beer Fest
What: Combine two things that Portlanders love, beer and sustainability, and what do you get? The 12th annual Organic Beer Festival, duh! This year, you can expect more than 50 organic beers and ciders, partnered with live music, food, and sustainable vendors.
