Boots, builders, butchers.

What do these things have in common? A free show and a new shoe location. As of this week the beloved (or hated if you didn’t like the Grunge era) British company Doc Marten has moved its retail operations and North American headquarters into one building on 10th and W. Burnside. That means the Broadway location, which was the first Doc Marten retail store in the whole country, has closed. I personally went through a very heavy Dr. M phase in the mid nineties wearing velvet docs to my imitation prom (my religious school didn’t get a real prom, dancing was a no-no). And if you want to talk longevity: On my first trip to London in 1996 I picked up a pair that are still in my closet to this day, and get brought out when I am forced to go into nature. I’d say 15 years of wear means they are worth the money. To kick off and celebrate the new location the store will be hosting a series of free concert events from October-December. First up will be awesome locals The Builders and the Butchers on October 22nd. A far better option then the typical elevator music that plays at most stores.
