Weaving Wizard

The late, great Laurie Herrick’s work gets some love.

For those of you not familiar with Laurie Herrick, she was a Portland-based Designer-craftsman known for her masterful weavings from the 1940s until her death in 1995. The Museum of Contemporary Craft is highlighting her work currently in an exhibit called Weaving Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow. The display runs now through the end of July. As part of the promotion the Museum took some of Herrick’s vintage goods and (with the help of designer Adam Arnold) styled them into current looks. Once again proving your grandmother was right – well crafted items fit perfectly into any decade.
