Portland Fashion Week is Dead....Kind Of

After nearly a decade in existence, Portland Fashion Week has come to an end. The three executive producers Tito Chowbury, Chris Cone and Tod Foulk no longer saw eye to eye on their vision and the partnership dissolved. However, Chowbury, tenacious fellow that he is, has launched a new organization dedicated in a similar manner to PFW called Fashionxt (pronounced Fashion Next).
Fashionxt will continue producing an annual fashion week in October, right in sync with PFW’s old schedule and Chowbury has retained well known fashion producer Elizabeth Mollo to continue handling the backstage drama. The only discernible difference from PFW so far is Chowbury’s (an engineer at Intel) added push for a technology element. He believes Portland “is a city with a lifestyle that embraces not only what is next in fashion, but what is next in personal style technology that enhances life experiences.”
With that agenda in mind, opening night will feature a collaboration between Seth Aaron, winner of Project Runway Season 7, and Project Runway Season 9 Runner Up, star Viktor Luna showing a collection inspired around the personal cloud powered by Intel® technology. It will also feature six (yes six) total Project Runway designers. Almost enough to change the name of the show to Project Portland.
In addition to the visiting designers, some familiar (local) names will be back including Emerging Designer winner Amanda Grisham, Collier and Stephanie D. Couture. The shows take place October 10–13 at the Vigor Shipyards once again and additional information on times and tickets are available at Fashionxt.net.
