Narcisco Rodriguez for Kohl's

Another big name designer teams up for an affordable collaboration with a large retailer. And, yes, the clothes are cool.

Designer collaborations with big box stores are officially all the rage. With the constant cool offerings from H&M and Target, Kohl’s also wants a piece of the spotlight with the launch of their Narcisco Rodriguez collection next week.

Rodriguez has the distinction of being the first designer to be honored with two consecutive Womenswear Designer of the Year awards from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2002 and 2003. People unfamiliar with his simple, yet chic, aesthetic received a big introduction in November of ’08 when Michelle Obama wore his black and red dress on stage the night Barack won the presidency garnering a good chunk of attention in the fashion world.

For his Kohl’s collection the designer took inspiration from Istanbul and it’s vibrant culture “from its music to its spice market” and incorporated that into the line of work wear items, dresses and separates ranging from $30 to $150. The favorite of the pack goes to the simply body-con dressing color blocked in a way to emphasize everything (and play down what we all like to hide) coming in at an extremely reasonable $65 price tag.

The entire collection will be available beginning at 7am on November 7th in both the Kohl’s store near you and through their web site.

Celebrities Julianna Margulies, Katie Holmes (with Rodriguez), and Emma Roberts all wear the collection to its launch party.
