Perfect Summer Party Style

We've dedicated our July issue to hosting the perfect party. And now you can dress the part.

By Eden Dawn July 9, 2014

In our July issue cover package on Summer Entertaining we cover all the ins and outs for how to decorate, food to make, cocktails to drink, and even playlists to listen to. We all but called up your crew and invited them for you. But still one important question remains: What to wear?

Never fear, we’ve taken care of that part too with Pinterest boards of inspiration for you covering both our signature Portland barbecue daytime casual and the attainable combo of stylish and comfortable for those hot summer nights.

You officially have everything you need now to party.

Tips for daytime ensembles

On a hot day opt for natural textiles that breathe in lighter colors. Fabrics like chambray, linen, seersucker, or a bamboo jersey will all keep the air flowing while whites and pastels will reflect the light instead of absorbing it. Avoid synthetic materials at all costs. Your sweating underarms will thank you for it.

Tips for evening looks

Summer time evenings are still often casual affairs. Turn your daytime looks into evening by (ladies) throwing on a strappy wedge instead of the scuffed up go-to sandal, and (men) a lightweight blazer with a pocket square can make a jeans and tee runway ready. Fabrics that are a cotton-poly blend will still allow for some air, but the poly will keep it wrinkle free for the Instagrammable moments.
